No, you are most likely not done. Neither you or ZoranC seem to be able to live without having the last word here. Both of you are losing your objectivity now. You are just raving about it and not being rational at all.

The MFG doesn't have to tell people about it because it isn't a defect. If it were a gear that had a tendency to fly out of the machine then that would be another story. This is something that one can live with and work around. The fact that David hears the voice of the consumer and is taking steps to make adjustments is not an admission of guilt or wrongdoing. He is just responding to the customer the way any good business should.

#1 You know theres an issue.. do you need a notification???

#2 Acidental activation of switch will not occur if you disconect the power cord as recomended for changing pads (regardless of what you do with any other machine). As previously stated this is in the Users Manual

#3 Polish wont get in eyes if you wear protection.. If you choose to do neither that is you choice and not the responsibility of anyone other than yourself.

Honestly, it took me all of two seconds to realize the switch isn't going to need much encouragement to turn on. I knew it was sensitive before the first and only time it turned on on me. I really don't think a notification would be "necessary." Nice, perhaps, but not necessary.

Has anyone emailed Perfect Shine LLC? I've never encountered them being bad about customer service so I'm sure they'll do something if you contact them directly, rather than discuss to no end on this thread, that the dev team is probably too busy to be up to date on.

Nope, I have made my points, they admitt they have a bad switch, not warned anyone, not whining, let it be, I have done what I think is right, ! THE MFG CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO. I LOVE THE UDM AS STATED BEFORE......I'M DONE I STOOD UP WHILE SOME OTHERS DID NOT. ZOOM-ZOOM YAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!....PS I LOVE THE Teletubbies!

A fix for the EXPOSED switch is on the way.

It has taken us a few days to completely study the issue, and we fully understand the problem.

ISSUE:

- The UDM switch is no easier or difficult to turn ON/OFF than the Porter Cable 7424.

- The UDM switch slide mechanism is larger than the Porter Cable and extends beyond the protective rails, exposing it to accidental bumping.

FIX:

Manufacture a new switch slider that is smaller and fully protected by the slide rails.

TIMING:

- August, 2007. We are in the process of making the new mold and will have the new part manufactured in 2-3 weeks time.

- All registered owners in North America will receive a new switch slide via mail and instructions to install the new part.

LIABILITY & WARRANTY:

- As with any power tool, goggles or safety glass are to be worn when using the UDM.

- Any buyer not satisfied with their UDM or the upgrade service we provide should return their UDM for a full refund.

I'M LOCKING THIS THREAD, AS THIS IS THE FINAL WORD ON THE ISSUE.

- We realize there is a design flaw.

- We are fixing the design flaw.

- We will ship the update to all registered owners.

- UDM and PC owners, take due care using your tool: wear goggles, keep your finger on the switch slide when putting polish on your pad, be careful putting the polisher down on its back, and unplug the machine when changing backing plates.

Again, if you are not happy with your UDM, RETURN IT NOW!
