UDM problem, can I fix it myself?

The clip that holds the backing plate assembly is AWOL so the backing plate won't stay on the UDM unless I am holding it against the car. Is this something I can get the part for and replace myself or should I send it in for repair (and maybe updated brushes-occasionally I smell a burning smell but it still works fine).

Scott, send it back for warranty replacement. The burning smell is the first sign it's going i think. You know DB and Lynn will hook you up because their customer service is number one in my book with a replacement fast......P.S. it also depends when you got yours.

depressing.. is there anyway we can mod a cooling device onto the thing? UDM can't be making any money replacing these things over and over..

Scott, if the C clip is missing, then the whole bearing assy should be replaced. Send it back and we'll replace it with a fresh refurb.
