Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

It takes 1-2 weeks by USPS, regular...not express one. I have done MANY orders in the past years, that's is why i am pissed about this FEDEX policy.

Here is a 1 week old shipping quote by USPS. Seems pretty fair to me, 120$ for that order.

The PC comes with 15 pads, so it's heavy and big...polishes and other heavy stuff also.

Like I said i think its a miscommunication problem, we have shipped plenty of small packages to various international countrys using usps. I will have my international sales rep. get with you to clear up this details.

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

I live in Finland and order from autogeek now and then. I know it's not the cheapest way, since I can get a lot here localy also. But the dollar is very weak compared to the euro so that makes it less expensive.
I think autogeek are very nice people to deal with, never had a problem and everything I have bought from them are sent via USPS as far as I can remember. Usually get it in about a week after I approve the shipping charges.

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

Barracuda,

Welcome to international shipping. You'd be surprised how much it costs just to ship something from the US to Canada! Then there is extra Brokerage fee's by someone else like UPS (who are by far the worst in that department).

Last year, I bought $40 worth of grass seed from the US (2 boxes) and it ended up costing me after shipping $50 and unforeseen (new it was coming but not quoted) brokerage of $50... $40 of grass seed cost me $140! It was only 700 miles away from door!

A measily letter from Toronto to Florida can cost over $20 in shipping!

Generally speaking, some companies that have retail business at a bricks and mortar business are willing to take a hit on shipping when web orders are placed because they save sooo much of their margin by buying online. generally speaking, B*M have a built in 50-100% market so losing a bit on shipping when buying online is okay because they still come out way ahead. However, not everyone can do that.

Autogeek isn't ripping you off, it's just reality of shipping these days along with customs and brokerages by each country.

Paco

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

Mates, you seem to not understand what i am saying. Is my english THAT bad ? The 240$ quote did NOT include any taxes or customs or any of that. I was only shipping !

You pay taxes, customs when the package arrives, and that is my problem, i will pay them. I was only speaking about the shippment cost.

I have nothing against normal shipping prices (USPS), i've made alot of orders and i find their prices more than ok. I have a problem with FEDEX and the policy to ship by FEDEX.

Look at the shipping quote from my last order from US (A week ago). It was 120$ by USPS and it's a heavy/big package. If one would have sent that order by FEDEX it would have been over 300$ in shipping.

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

Baracuda,

Insurance is an important factor as well, you shouldn't be quick to dismiss it. If your order was lost or arrived heavily damaged, that is serious for both parties. Especially, when shipping by air - anywhere. I know from my own personal experience, FedEx is one of the better companies to reimburse whereas, USPS is almost impossible to get anything out of them if there was an issue. They hand over the shipping once it leaves the US to a local firm and often times, say they are responsible. Good Luck with that if ever became an issue.

I've never ordered from them but i doubt they are marking up shipping and trying to profit from it.

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

Yeah...they ensure the package and ofc they pay up when it costs more to ship than the actual package

I could ship two identical packages just to be sure one gets here. And it will probably be cheaper

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

I agree, Autogeek's shipping quotes are quite high... I was looking for pretty much the same products/quantity in two stores: Autogeek and Autopia. Autogeek gives me approx $50 shipping price, while Autopia shipping price is only $30. (I live in Lithuania).

this still sounds more like a Fexdex issue versus and Autogeek issue. you cannot blame them for wanting some assurances and protection with insurance and door to door delivery. glad however to see your happy and bet a call to jason would have resolved this quicker for both parties to.

Re: Outrageous International Shipping Prices !!!

me personally I would've gone FedEx, just because of insurance alone, I wouldn't want some USPS gorilla man handling my $500 order and tossing it around like a rag doll but I hope it got there safely!

I'm curious to know what makes you think FedEx handles things any differently from USPS??
