Flex Detailed 1997 Mustang Cobra - my favorite color Rio Red!

I always enjoy detailing this car....it is owned by a very good friend of mine and I often help him clean it up. However, since getting it repainted (a VERY impressive paint job especially for the price he paid...it's hard to find good work like this out of local shops around here), I haven't gotten my hands on it. The car was clayed a few months ago, and surprisingly enough, the paint was still smooth (as I mentioned, the car is not garage kept so this was surprising to me).

Anyways, the swirls were not as bad as I expected. While the detailers at this body shop did not do a great job buffing, I would say it is better than average since the swirls were pretty mild, unlike most other repaints. No sanding scratches, holograms, etc.

For swirl removal, I used the new WG 3.0 polishes. Total Swirl Remover 3.0 with an orange LC pad, and Finishing Glaze 3.0 with a white polishing pad. Both polishes were used with the Flex VRG3401 on the highest speed. Since some people requested a polycharged UPP durability test, I decided to use that as an LSP.

On with the BEFORE pics...

OK so the first thing I noticed, is the new UPP is considerably thicker in consistency than the older formula. Ease of use was the same, but it seemed to dust a little bit more. Not a big deal by any means...still extremely easy to use compared to most other products. Slickness is off the charts. Since this car sits outside it will be a good test for durability...I'm going to try to have him bring it over every Saturday for a wash / durability update.

Looks great! Does UPP tend to look a little like plastic coating in person? It definitely looks SLICK for sure. Nice work! I like that you detailed the SN95 next to it's grandfather (also in red).

Thanks! IMO UPP looked more wet than plastic. The '66 is actually painted the same red that Vipers come in....next to Rio Red, it is noticeably more orange!

Re: Flex Detailed 1997 Mustang Cobra - my favorite color Rio Red!

Just a brief update....

The car was NOT washed since it was detailed, due to conflicting schedules. I tell my friend I'll do it for him, yet anytime I'm available, he's not. He finally washed it 2 days ago....I saw the car yesterday and it still looked pretty good. Slickness is almost all gone (some left though), and it is still beading pretty good!

I'll post another update next time the car is washed...if it ever does get washed, LOL.
