A serious warning (aka How I spent my New Year's Holiday)
Guys,
I had something happen to me that was very serious. On New Year's Eve, I was experiencing slurred speech, stumbling, numbness on tongue, lower lip, and two right fingers. In short, I showed some of the signs of a stroke.
When they admitted me to the hospital, my blood pressure was checked and it was 188/102. Later that day, I shot to 200/102. I was in the hospital until yesterday because they ran tests on me. As it sits....
- My heart is normal. No bad valves or cardiac damage
- My brain is normal (according to the CAT scan)
- My carotid arteries are normal.
Currently, I am at 160/94 and I am taking it easy. Just keep praying for me and I will be back to 100% very soon. As it sits, I have to take 6 medications, go for a MRI, and (maybe) get a biopsy on my thyroid.
The point I am making here is this was a serious wake-up call for me. You have to take care of yourselves because you really don't want to be in the same situation.

Its scary, I think about that everyday. Just eat right, exercise, and relax when you can. If you do all of these, you'll have to let what will be, be.
thats my "new" mentality, at 35.

Re: A serious warning (aka How I spent my New Year's Holiday)
Sounds like a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). It is a fairly common yet scary phenomenon caused by the constriction of arteries in the brain. With your symtoms it sounds like the problem arose in the middle cerebral artery; a common location for this type of event. The MRI will tell you more.
I hope this helps you to make better decisions concerning your lifestyle and froces you to make changes that will benefit you in more ways than one. As for the prayers... you got it!!!!

Thoughts and prayers are with you Prinz! Glad to see your heart/brain are not the cause of this, take care of yourself buddy and get some rest!
By the way good luck with the Thyroid tests, I had to have a bunch ran on mine and I pray that you don't have to swallow that crap that shows up on the scan....Talk about wanting to puke/fart/burp. They tell you not to let the gas out haha

Whoa! What a way to start the new year.
These things have a way of reminding us that life can be fragile and taking our health for granted is not a good thing. Take care of yourself, and may the Lord guide those care providers as they work with you.
