Took the easy way out by drinking some Milk of Magnesia. Let's just say it was a soft exit.

Re: I'm back and feeling better than excpected!

Back at work today. The roof of the H2 I wash on Thursday that I have been dreading (the stretching out part) was a breeze.

Got cleared to ride my bike in the trainer too. No riding outdoors until fully healed. Hitting the ground for some reason at 20 mph would be really bad for my mesh patch and abdomenal wall.

Sheesh, I totally missed this.... Scott, man, I'm glad to hear everything went well for you... I'm assuming that since you mentioned a mesh patch, you had an inguinal hernia repaired. I had one of those, too. Not much fun.

You are one tough SOB to be back at work ten days after a hernia repair!

Actually, it was an umbilical hernia that progressed to a ventral hernia in the 10 years or so I've had it. The skin the surgeon cut out of my former belly button was about the size (across) of a baseball. The skin was too thinned for him to use to make me a new belly button so he used skin from my abdomen and just folded it over. Weird but I guess it worked. I've had no pain from the incision at all. What hurt initially was my abs, they ached and were pretty swollen for a few days (maybe because they were clamped open to access my abdomenal wall?) and then where the mesh was sewn in was would ache a bit. Really though, after the first two days, the pain was minimal.

Right now, I can push in on the belly button area with my hand flat and there is absolutely no pain at all.

Looking a bit better now too, the redness is mostly gone and the belly button is about 70% of the size it was when I first took the bandages off 2 days after the surgery.

Some of the scabbing has come off now too and it shrunk a bit more since I took the above picture. Hopefully once the scabs are completely gone and I drop 20 pounds or so it will look pretty normal.
