Workout Music

I would think this would be the spot to post this stuff. I have been lifting weights and I did a week with no music and then last week to some kind of metal, and I was able to lift 2-5 more reps than last week. No it was not the heavy screaming/yelling metal. That stuff is annoying. Sorry.

I am trying to find something a long the lines of "Papa Roach - Hollywood Whore" kind of metal. I know some don't think Papa Roach is good, but I am using that song as a example of what I am looking for.

So I am here to get suggestions on what to listen to on weight lifting days. I already have my music for yoga, cardio days.

Nothing yelling, screaming metal. Maybe some Drum Lines or Guitar Solos.

Re: Workout Music

the new metallica is really good, and it's not too overly heavy but melodic as well...

Re: Workout Music

It's kinda weird, what I listen to...yeah, most of it is the to-be-expected heavy/hard stuff, but I sometimes listen to stuff that sure doesn't seen appropriate at first blush- I mean, who else would ever lift to Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline"?!? Or what about Fleetwood Mack's "Fireflies"? Or Lucinda Williams (during grip work). I'll have stuff like that in rotation along with G 'n' R, Motorhead, AC/DC and the other typical fare.

Heavy sets on chest and back days: Bob Seger's "Get Out of Denver".

I don't play *any* tunes when doing legs...it somehow distracts me and I don't want to have an "oops" while squatting/etc. I have my best leg workouts with things nice and quiet (well, quiet except for any noises I might make ).

I absolutely *gotta* have good music videos going when I do my cardio, no way I'd make it through the tough intervals without it. I keep the VCR and DVD loaded and cued in case there's nothing good on the cable.

Re: Workout Music

You cant go wrong with Metallica. The new record, Death Magnetic, makes for good workout music. I really like Sevendust a lot, they're pretty heavy, but they will have some screaming in there. Their lead singer is a SINGER though. Check out a song by them called Waffle, and tell me if that doesnt get you psyched up.
