Low Back Pain....
Seekign for techniques to help alleviate/prevent random back pain, caused by muscle spasms. Every once in a while my low back will start to hurt, over a few days the pain will increase adn make it painful to sit, walk or function. It's not completely crippling, but painful enough with sometimes very slight tingling down my left leg. I've had this on and off over the past few years, but as of recently I've had it constant for the last 2 or so months, with it onyl getting strnoger recently..
Stats: 28 year old male - 6ft 3-4" - average build
I know I should be doing some stretches in the AM and start working out regularly. But I can't get myself motivated to go work out unless I get this back pain issue and then I can't, because my low back hurts....
When I visited my PCP, he advised to take 3-4 Advil tablets, I believe 3x per day - I forgot the details.... Essentially it's supposed to work as an anti-inflamatory to help control the spine inflamtion against the ctc w/ nerve ending...
Any suggestions guys?

I hear ya, but apparently once you burn a hole in your stomach, there's no going back to the way you were. I've heard it suggested that once you've had a bleeding ulcer, you should take PPI's for life.

Re: Low Back Pain....
i also get lower back aches occasionlly (6ft/160lbs), and it seems to elevate in the winter (also my left wrist too (broke it 3 times ) i go to the gym regularly and i tell ya, the spa (the jets hitting your back sure feels good) is the best thing they have there, otherwise i wouldn't go LOL. try getting one of those exercise balls and lay on it and stretch your back, it's worth a try...

You pretty much nailed it unfortunately. When your back feels good, strengthen it with stretches and back excersises. When it hurts, only use very light stretches. By strengthening your back, you lessen the frequency and severity of the flare ups.

Re: Low Back Pain....
I have had back pain for ten years, Off and on. And a buddy of mine told me to try his teeter inversion table. All I can say is, It
works great, and I bought one for about 300.00 nine years ago, And it was some of the BEST money I have ever spent. It has basically allowed me to keep working and make money
when I otherwise would have had to call in sick. It has paid for its self many times over...... BG

Re: Low Back Pain....
Have you tried chiropractic care? Stress on vertebrae can cause them to misalign and cause nerve irritation. Getting the nerves to work better would help with muscle spasms and joint stiffness.

Re: Low Back Pain....
I have had back problems for 30 years and had surgery in 1995. You need to be careful...if the pain radiates past your knees and into your toes you definately need to see a good Doctor. I have learned a vast amount about the paim issues ,etc.
You eventually need to not only srengthen your back but you want to strengthen your stomach mucsles ..that is the core of your body...stomach and back.
Stretching is key....its like doing therapy...be careful and start slow. I stretch every morning and every night before I go to bed. I work out alot to keep my weight under control.
Unfortunetly, if you have back problems stretching and excercise becomes a way of life.
I feel for you....nothing more aggrevating then having back problems....good luck.

MIND BODY PRESCRIPTION by DR JOHN E SARNO.
Read it if you want the pain/stomach problems to go away for ever.
