Bodybuilding and Detailing ...
Its been 10 years (1998) since I last competed in the WNBF (World Natural Bodybuilding Federation) and at about that same time, I became much more involved in auto detailing professionally. I guess I just lost my desire to compete, but I continued to train over that time. I definitely believe there is a direct correlation between the obsessive compulsive nature of auto detailing and bodybuilding. Both of these activities give me great personal satisfaction, and both are an art form in which there are so many variables involved in the process, and I am always looking for ways to improve at both.
I absolutely love auto detailing !!! To this day, I still get excited when a customer comes to me with a automobile that has lost its original “luster”, and have all but given up on the hopes that their vehicle could ever be restored to that “showroom shine” it had when they first got it. Their interior now looks worn, dusty and stained and not fresh clean and bright like it once did. I am sure that most of us can relate to the great feeling of when the customer, friend, or family member returns hours later to find that their car has somehow been miraculously transformed back to something it once was.
I guess that how I started feeling about my lost love for drug free bodybuilding. Then about a little over a year ago, I started to think again about entering an amateur drug free bodybuilding competition. , My bodyweight shot up to over 20 pounds over my normal bodyweight of 230 lbs. At 38 years of age, my metabolisms has definitely slowed to a snails pace, and I have found that I need more discipline when in the kitchen, and that maybe competing again could help restore that discipline with regards to dieting.
Well here I am one week out from 2008 INBF Northeast America competition in Matawan NJ, and I have once again found my lost love renewed.
Wish me luck !!!
Any other auto detailing nuts like myself share my love for bodybuilding?
Competing?

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...
Met the love of my life on 11.05.2002. From that day on, BB didn't matter any more.
I am 6'3 and went from 143 to 210 over the years. I am in the slooooooowwwwwwww process of getting motivated to start working out again - see I am a hard gainer and down to 185.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...
I was also into it also (never competed) just for fun. My boys and I would push each other for gains. My friend had a cousin who competed and we use to use his excersising tips to make gains. I was disciplined and really was commited and confident. I though that things would never changed. I was 5'10 at 185 with about 8% bodyfat.
Fast forward into the present and my priorities have changed. With my wife and daughter, I am 5' 10" 220 and no where near 8% body fat. Each day I keep telling myself to get into the gym but never make it. Sad...but I have been paying for a gym membership for the past 2 years and I may have actually gone to the gym 10 times in those two years. Enough of my song singing, deatiling has taken over for my obsessivness in BodyBuilding.
Good luck Clean Dean, and also congrats on the new vid. It is a great marketing concept.
Lastly, Thomas really means that about the love of his life. He told me that if he colud he would stay at home with her all the time. It is nice to see love like that still exsists.

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...
Good luck Dean!
My buddy is a firefighter and into amateur bodybuilding, and the level of discipline required is pretty amazing. I haven't seen him eat anything but chicken breast or tuna in like 3 weeks.
Me, I don't have the discipline, sadly. I used to be pretty boxed up at 5'10 195 senior year, but since then I've put on 40lbs and dropped about 60lbs on my bench press .

Im only 16 and started last year. I am 5' 8" and weigh 130. I have hardly any body fat. My bench press is at 160 right now. I've been working really hard to build muscle. I've also been drinking cyto gainer every day to help me gain some weight.

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...
I work out 4 nights a week. I find detailing is good for stretching out the muscles. They go hand-in-hand.

Re: Bodybuilding and Detailing ...
Best of luck to ya Dean! I'm sure you'll do well. Thanks for the advice that you gave me. I've really been playing with my diet and workouts to see what works best for me. I think I've just about got it where I need it. I'm not trying to be a competitive bodybuilder, I just want to be in the best shape that I can be in. I don't think I could detail 3 cars a day and then train. You doing that and THEN coming home and training gets 110% of my respect.
If you're a week out, I guess you dont know what a carbohydrate is huh?
What's your typical ab routine? I pieced mine together from Bodybuilding.com articles, and I'm seeing improvements, but as I get stronger, it's taking a lot longer to really punish them They're starting to take shape, but I really want to drive the cuts into them.
