Re: Best/favorite protein shake?
Gemimi13- Thanks for the link, I'll check those out. This is a toughie for me...trying to duplicate something is sometimes tougher than just finding something altogether new!
But I *am* hopeful that the Parillo carb stuff, mixed with some protein powders I can get locally, will work out for me. Sheesh...what a hassle when I coulda just kept using the Myoplex for this
2002 Z06- That's a whole lotta protein (gee, how often do *I* ever say that?!?) and mighty low carbs Maybe it's just my age (or my fast metabolism) but I just don't do well on MRPs that are basically just protein powders.
But hey, at least you've found something you like and you're sticking with it. Now as long as they don't discontinue it and put you in the boad *I* am currently in!

Re: Best/favorite protein shake?
Just ordered a couple of interesting flavors from allthewhey.com. Cupcake batter and Cinnabon. I'll report how they taste after they arrive.
Currently my favorite flavors are anything muscle milk.
Also, for those looking for good functional strength check out anything by Ross Enaimet (Butchered his name I'm sure.) Also, the book "Starting Strength" by Rippetowe and Killgore is amazing!

Re: Best/favorite protein shake?
I used to buy for many years my protein from allthewhey, but last year I had enough of their lying and bad customer service.

That just goes to show how different people are; I don't care for the Muscle Milk stuff at all. Heh heh, this is harder to agree on than LSPs

Re: Best/favorite protein shake?
For super high quality protein I sometimes buy from Protein Factory. They have fractioned CFM whey isolate at a good price. If im doing the usual trip to Vitamin Shoppe Ill pick up some Optimum Nutrition Nitrocore 24, nice balanced blend of fast and slow digesting proteins. For post workout recovery shake I only drink ON 2:1:1 recovery, tastes really great, goes down smooth and has everything you need to recover from you workout.

Re: Best/favorite protein shake?
I havent read through every page in this thread, but do any of you drink weight gainers added to your diet? I've been using max muscle weight gainer which is 590 calories w/ water. Anyone else have any tips to stack on some mass?

I've never gone for any of the weight gainers as they all have stuff I don't want in them...extra creatine (I get that from other supplements), loads of sugar.
Packing on mass gets easier as you get older and your metabolism slows down, but other than that I'd just keep taking in a slightly surplus level of calories (proper protein/carb/fat ratio) and stick with heavy basic freeweight exercises. I'd stick with what you can metabolize in a few hours and take in your calories steadily throughout the day. Find stuff (maybe the Max Muscle stuff is right for you) that you can stick with year-in, year-out as this is a lifelong thing, not just something to do for a few years.
Mass comes from exercises like squats performed with sufficient intensity, done along with sufficient calories and sufficient recovery. It really is about as simple as that, the rest of it is a matter of your genetics.

Yep, they sure had their problems. I think theyve turned it around recently though. THeyve got their own forum over @ anabolic minds and employees frequently post there.
Ive had nothing but good luck with them so far...

Whoa! How much do you get for $12 and how does it taste?
I just got my second 5 lb tub of Higher Power Vanilla from Bodybuilding.com. So far I like it and it's cheaper than ON.
I always buy Vanilla so I can mix it up a little bit. I can make it in OJ or mix in fruit (which IMO is better in vanilla flavors than chocolate).
