S. Boston- show prep

Hi!

Looking for detailer on short notice. Have car show on Sunday, 7 October.

I am in Dorchester, MA- south of Boston right off I93 near painted oil tank. Would be willing to drive out within 40 minutes or can provide H2O/ electric at my location (in uncovered driveway, no carport). Prefer Saturday, but based on availability could work something the rest of the week.

Car is 2006 Mustang GT. Black and in decent condition. Owned for 2 yrs, approx 29K miles, kept outdoors since day one. Had semi pro detail with claybar to it May 06, my uneducated handwashing or touchless wash since then.

449hp, supercharged 4.6L v8. Runs 12.0 @ 110mph on street radials... lets go for a spin and talk some prices. I'll pick the rubber out of the wheel well since I go to the track on Friday night. I'm looking for interior/ exterior/ engine dressed package-- the works!

I haven't seen anything other than "hand wax at the Scrub-a-Dub" and I'm looking for some real TLC/ machine buff/polish and whatnot.

Thanks
matt

Re: S. Boston- show prep

I don' t know how close you are to forum expert Rydawg, but if he is with in distance, I couldn't imagine a better, more qualifed person (anywhere in the country) for this type of work.

I'll forward him this thread, if hes not booked, maybe he can help. Good luck and let us know how the show goes....

Yep, Rydawg (sNH) or Rick Rack (Wakefield). IIRC, there's a fellow on the South Shore you could contact. I think the screenname is whitejavaS500.

+1

Thanks for the tip guys! Ryan and I connected yesterday and he's doing his best to accomodate me prior to Sunday.

The show is the Late Model Mustang Club of CT held at Moroso headquarters and will basically be the last show of the season for me.

You can catch the show flyer at lmmc-ct.com If you're somewhat local, come on out!

Your car sounds like a beast! I'm sure Ryan will take good care of you.

Be sure to post up some pictures after the detail.

Re: S. Boston- show prep

I'm not the best at photos (honestly!) the whole car just looks like a mirror.

Unfortunately, it started to rain just as Ryan was finishing up... so I had a 45 minute drive home in the rain. Then this morning, it was drizzling and the roads were wet. To top it all off, the drive to the show was 132 miles (and I had bad weather for the first 80 miles).

Overall I gave Ryan's job a helluva beating in its first 24hrs and things look great. You can really tell the difference in "paint correction" vs seeing stock cars with the old Turtlewax treatment like I did at this show

Some front and side photos attached. Last photo is a gimme- the engine and blower.

Thanks everyone!

WOW! The pictures look great Matt. Congrats at the car show!

That sure was a difficult detail with what was previously used by the last detailer. This car gave me my first run for my money in 15 years. You know how hard it was cause you watched me for 15 hours straight

Thanks again for being very patient! You were an excellent customer

haha, I had a problem with the paint due to the stuff that was embedded deep into the paint by the past detailer who also used a very dirty wool pad with some type of bad silicone based product. All the edges of the car were dry white and also had these crystals that kept coming out of the paint while I was buffing. Also the dust that was coming off of the paint was insane. I did talk to a chemical pro on this and he said some type of acrylic product was used and then topped with a wax and that gives it a chemical crosss contamination. He even told me to look for rainbow looking crystals and sure enough I seen them in every corner. Buffing it was extremly tough cause my pads were getting contaminated while I was buffing and had to degrease them very often. I now cannot use my pads on any other car until I wash them out with this solvent that I ordered. He said it will clean the pads 100%, but will not remove it from paint. Wierd if you ask me.

I did use every product I had under the sun and moon for the correction. Prep sol, safe degreaser, alcohol, Presta UCC, 3M, SIP, Powergloss, HTHC, HTHC, etc...

The lsp was Deepfinish deep swax which I gave the customer to use as it was getting too late (early in the morning) to apply any. Plus it was raining out and he had a long drive home in the rain also.

This gave me a run for my money...That is for sure! But I stayed persistant and positive for 15-16 hours straight I only ate once

Re: S. Boston- show prep

That black 'Stang looks so wet, I'm surprised that it isn't running off of the car! :

I thought about taking a ride down there with my 'Stang, but when I left the firehouse after my night tour it was pouring and the weather radar looked extremely bleak... nothing buts greens, yellows and red....
