Just take it to a body shop.. let them sand and blend then have a detail work on it

Re: Looking for a detailer in the Western New York (keyed drivers side)

I'm aware that they cannot be buffed out. I took it to two body shops and they wanted to repaint entire panels. Ive seen what some of these guys can do with touch up paint and a buffer. Thats what im interested in.

Overcast and the car is covered in salt, did my best with the pics.

sorry to hear about that man, but the process you speak of takes weeks to layer touch up paint, and that process is mainly used for spot touch ups such as rock chips etc. nothing major. But hey someone could prove me wrong.

I've done some scratches but honestly, it'll never look 100% unless they paint and blend the panel... That sucks man.

Re: Looking for a detailer in the Western New York (keyed drivers side)

i'd have to see it in person but most of those scratches will come out. the one big ones, i'd say it's a 50/50 shot of buffing out. the long one for the most part will come out fine. very easily.

i probably buff out three or four cars with scratches like that a week, some through completely to the metal.

for the spots that won't come out (you'll never know for sure until you try working it) it's very possible to brush touch it, let the brush touch dry and then buff it afterwards to make it uniform. i've also been able to match a spray can to the paint color before and after that dries buff it out to be uniform (which is much easier than buffing brush touch). seeing as your vehicle's an 08 and the paint hasn't had time to fade, i'd say what you're proposing is entirely possible and quite honestly not extremely difficult.

it's still a job though. and stressful on whatever detailer you bring it to :-(. but without touching it up and just buffing i'd say that 75-90% of it will come out guaranteed.

where in wny are you?

Re: Looking for a detailer in the Western New York (keyed drivers side)

It can be done. If I was in your area, I would quote 250 or so for that, it's going to need multiple light coats of touchup applied with a small brush into the scratch over a couple of hours, wet sanding to level the touchup, and then machine polish it.

Quality of the repair is 90% dependent on the accuracy of the touchup paint match.
