Cleaning machined aluminum wheels

A friend of mine wants his harley done and my biggest concern is the wheels. They are machined aluminum. Using mothers or megs aluminum polish makes a crazy mess and seems some spots look great and some dont. The rag constantly comes up black. I dont want to be responsible for ruining anything so maybe some suggestions or shouldnt be using that? BTW I havent done it yet. Just know from experience

Re: Cleaning machined aluminum wheels

Try Mothers Billet Polish and plan to use a few microfiber cloths. The Billet comes in a smaller container about the size of a glass shoe polish container and costs about $18 around here. Not cheap but it goes a pretty long way and works great on that kind of thing.

Not to say this is the only way, just the way I'm doing it till someone suggests something I haven't tried. Then I'll try that and if it works better, that'll be the way I do it, till the next change.

Re: Cleaning machined aluminum wheels

My brother has forged billet raw aluminum wheels on his 95 SS Impala, they are the biggest pain in the a$$ to keep looking good and he spends hours polishing them when he cleans his car, He uses a product made by "Heavy Metal" heres a link to the product

Medium Heavy Metal Polish GREEN 16oz. Liquid - Metal Polish at BrilexSolutions.com
We have the "blue" and the "green"

Hope that helps, realize what your doing is different, but this product is the only one we have found for his RAW aluminum wheels. Does a fantastic job
