I have the opportunity to do another boat, execpt this one is much larger and worse off in its condition. I think its a 25' cabin cruiser. I put in 17.5 hrs on this one. As the project was going on, the owner got more excited about how it was turning out that he took the teak off in places and removed the registration lettering so I could compound out these areas to the max.
This boat is 20 yrs old, and has never been detailed like this, just wax when they remembered. The white part of the top side was not white its was cream, it took 2hrs of wet sanding by hand to remove all the sun bleach/fade.

Boats are a tough job, and they cost the owners big bucks, however when they are done right (which I think I did) they are great to watch the expression on the owners face.

Nice job, didnt you tape the stripping on the bow? Looks like the after shows some damage to the stripping.
The taping off caused some stripping damage...........to answer the next question yes it was easy release tape. I guess that is the issue with trying to restore a 20 yr old boat.

The gel coat laughed at Megs 49 and snickered at 105 on wool. I had to break out the 3M Super Duty Compound and then follow up with 105 and PFW. I topped it with Collinite 845. I Wet sanded the entire white top of the cabin using 1500,2000,2500 then 105/PFW.
I would have wet sanded the engtire boat if I had a pneumatic, I'm sure it would have been faster. If I keep getting boats like this to restore, I might look in to that.
Boats like this are tough as the years of oxidation seem to create a very hard clear coat effect, until you remove that then they play nice with other compounds/polishes.
