24 foot Crownline deckboat

This was a clean up for sale. The owner only wanted the hull detailed, and specifically wanted the oxidation cleaned up on the blue portion. It was to be a basic job - no wetsanding.

I used Meguiar's marine cleaner wax (#50) on the PC at speed 6 with a burgundy Meguiar's cutting pad. I followed up with Collinite 845 by hand. When 1-stepping a dark colored boat, I prefer to use the PC, as I will be sure no holigrams will magically appear once the boat hits the water, and the sun is reflecting off the water and the boat.

THANKS - It only took 2 hours - I was amazed. The burgundy pads really cut the oxidation, and left a clean finish. I tried going rotary with a polishing pad, but was getting a nicer finish with the PC and burgundy pad. Like I mentioned earlier, I figured by using the PC, I would be sure not to leave any holigrams that may pop up once the boat hits the water, since this was only a one step. Light tends to reflect it funny ways over open water.

I was prepared to spend several hours on it...I wasn't sure until I got there if I would be doing the deck and trailer too, but the owner simply wanted the oxidation removed...I think he is going to powerwash the inside, as he had a new pressure washer sitting in his garage.

I cannot believe it only took 2 hrs! The oxidation must have be very min. I just got done with a huge boat and it took 17 hrs and required 3m super duty compound, m105 and polishing. I also had to wet sand. I tired meg 49/wool/rotary on the boat and was laughed at by the boat.

Also, the first two pictures tell me you need to be drinking more fluids in two hours LOL.

Greg, that was the second Gatorade in 2 hours (It was 100 degrees here) LOL.

I am going to be honest with you, this is the first boat I have ever done with oxidation -- I would guess it was pretty light. Due to my uncertainty, I had set aside a couple of evenings for it.

I have several products out of the Meguiar's Marine line, and the Duragloss 501 Marine Polish. I read on another forum where a guy swore by the PC (speed 6) / burgundy pad / cleaner wax combo. When I first got there, I tried 1 test spot with this, and did a second test spot using the rotary with Meguiar's color restorer (#44 from the Marine line), then following up with an application of marine cleaner wax over top of it.

When I stepped back and looked at both spots, the 1-stepped PC side looked every bit as good as the other side - I was amazed it was cutting through it so easily. With this being a clean up for sale, obviously one of the goals for the owner was to put as little money in it as possible now, in order to maximize his profit when he does sale, so we were more concerned with bringing the color back than wetsanding, etc...

Looks good....I just buffed out my 23' wellcraft this past weekend......used a PC, white pad, and 3M finesse it. Came out great, but was a ton of work!

Is it boat detailing season?
I just did up my father-in-law's 25 ft Chris Craft a few weekends ago.
I was surprised to see the results I got by using KAIO with a PC and 5.5" white pads. And followed up with 845 and 476.

Got a report back from the boats first trip to the water last weekend and heard hilarious stories of a couple of people sliding off the boat and into the water!

I just did the same exact make and model boat last weekend, but the one I did was green instead of blue. It turned out nice also! Good job! I use Gel Coat Labs fine cut polish and a rotary with Avenger wool pad.

I just did a 23 foot Sea Ray today..first boat I've ever done and it came out real well consider the amount of oxidation.

I used Meguiars 44 and an orange CCS pad. Followed up with Pinnacle Carnauba spray detailer. Spent about 8 hours including a quick interior detail.
