Polishing Motor Cycle??

My dad has two harleys that he wants me to polish to get rid of the marring from using a crappy sponge when cleaning. What is the best way to do this? Most of the panels are small so I thought it would be hard to do with a PC?

I'm going to be using Menz. probably just 106ff. Maybe SIP if 106ff can't fix it.

Try 4" pads...they are available for both PC and rotary.

I'm no expert, but sometimes the small panels show less than a big slab like a car body. What color?

this is way to late, but I would try a finishing pad for example, because most
bikes have a very soft clear on them, use the LC red pad first with 106FF
see what happens, if that does not work them try the white one.

I would use Menz 85rd instead because it has no fillers, if 106FF is not worked
good and checked with ISO wipe down it might fill instead of removing.

You are going to have to use 4" pads or go it by hand. I use optimum products. Polish, Compound and Hyper Compound. I just don't see how you are going to correct any signifigant marring without the 4" pads. If it's really bad, and along the tank panels on a harley, you will have to loosen up the nut on the dash and polish underneath. I find a lot of bike owners have a tendency to wipe along the lines of their tank panel and or gas cap. creating a ton of linaear swirls which cannot be removed without the removal of the aforementioned items. Even if you choose to remove all these marks I can all most guarantee the will be back if you ever detail the bike again.

Ive heard that optimim is pretty good....let me know if this is true

M105 works wonders by hand, use a cotton cloth for some real cutting action. It'll get rid of the marks and then go to a foam applicator by hand with the M105 and it should finish off great.

Is it not possible to put pressure on the edge of the pad, like maybe a white Lake Country pad with a wax on it?

I have some swirling on my bike but even a 4 inch pad will not fit in the slot and sit flat. Or, is the best option to use a foam hand pad?
