Autopian Near Plymouth, MN?

As the title states, I have moved to Minnesota and would like to have my car detailed in the near future.

I'd be willing to travel a bit if necessary. The car I am looking to get detailed is a Silver 03 VW Golf and I would like both the interior and exterior done. (Swirl removal)

I use to detail but sold all my equipment/supplies before I moved.

Thanks,
Josh

I'm in Zimmerman (about 40 miles north of you), but I'm not nearly as good as most Autopians.

Out of curiosity there Josh did you live in or around Holland Mi? I have family over there and was thinking about expanding my business into that area. I've checked out alot of the detailers over there. Most we're very unimpressive for the high end value in that area. WHat was you're take on detailing in that area? Anyone any good and worth checking out?

Re: Autopian Near Plymouth, MN?

I did live in Holland and I'd say Holland has a lot of potential, but it just seems people were not willing to pay for the services. That comes with the nature of it being Holland, it is known for people being loaded, but yet pinching every penny they have and always trying to low-ball.

As you said though, the detailers in the area are mediocre at best. There is a nice shop over in Zeeland which keeps busy I know, and they turn out some impressive work.

Just to note also, I was working a full-time job outside of detailing on the side so it's not like I was marketing my services or anything...merely word of mouth.

Re: Autopian Near Plymouth, MN?

Yea. so far the top shop I keep hearing about over there is "Soakers" Not sure if they really are but everyone I talked to over there seems to spit out their name first. I checked them out and While they were definatly a busy shop they seemed really subpar to me. I used to live in Holland for a few years back through the 90's and early 00's So I'm pretty familiar with the area. But alot has changed since I've really been around there. I know the money is good over there and the cars are much nicer (compared to where I currently live) Thought if I had to stay in Michigan that would be a nice change of sceenery.

Re: Autopian Near Plymouth, MN?

Bump - Just purchased a "new" to me car and would like a full exterior detail done. The car has been sitting on the showroom floor for the past 5-6 months but I would like to have the swirls taken out and some nice LSP put on it.

I'd be willing to drive a bit if needed to get this done, within 50 miles of Plymouth, MN.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Autopian Near Plymouth, MN?

Unfortunately it is true.

I moved to Minnesota back in September for a job and moved into an apartment so I sold all my supplies minus a few essentials.

I just made a Zaino purchase for up-keep but the polishing will need to be done by someone else for the time being. I'm hoping I can find someone nearby...I have a lot of interested people at my work place as well, so I wish I was still doing it on the side.

It's good to be back though, I hope to be a little more active on the boards again and maybe get back into the swing of things since I am now settled in my new area.

Well, good luck to you! I think I'm hearing that your departure from detailing was due to a life change and not a change of heart about detailing!

Re: Autopian Near Plymouth, MN?

Hey Josh, there's a Volksporter in the area (Mpls?) that does good detailing, but I can't for the life of me remember his name. He did a hot-modded S2000 a couple years ago.

You should come make a drive out to my area for the Dubs In The Valley show this Spring and I'll do it for you.

Hey Greg!

I've seen Greg's work at the Car Craft Summer Nats. Top notch work.

(I've got pics of the '61 Impala somewhere........)
