Grand Prix Speedway closing 12/28

I took my son to Grand Prix Speedway in Earth City, MO last night as part of his Christmas present and found out that they're going out of business on 12/28. Apparently the facility and everything goes up for auction after that. They don't have any posted notice of the closing, but the woman who answered the phone told me about it.

They've usually had the track configured as two 1/4 mile tracks, but now they've opened it up as one 1/2 mile track. You get 8 laps for $20, $15 for student or military.

I hate to see this place go away, we had a blast. I'm just glad we didn't miss it. My son enters boot camp in 2 weeks, and with this place closing it really was our last chance to get out and do something he's been wanting to do for quite some time. I'm just sorry I waited so long to try it out.

Wow. I had wondered why I didn't see any cars sitting in their "featured" section any longer. My car club went there last year for a club event. It's truly a shame that it's going away.

Yeah, if you walk in the front now not only are all the display cars gone, but the store that was off the lobby is gone and that area is filled with cubicles.

No idea when the auction is, you might just try calling them to ask.

And yeah, I wish I wasn't serious.
