Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
I have been wearing Brooks Brothers for about 20 years now. They're pretty conservative, but that just means that they look good now, and will still look good in 10 years. The no iron dress shirts are awesome, but the regular ones last longer if you send them out. I've got some BB shirts that are about 10 years old and still look great, so the cost per wear is really low compared to some of the crap you find in the big stores. Can't tell you how many shirts I went through before I figured that out. Pilling on the collars, fraying on the cuffs, whites that just don't look right after a while, etc.
Spend a little more on the front end and you won't have to worry about replacing them all the time. Same for shoes. Clark's are really good and can be resoled as long as you take care of the uppers. Ecco also makes very nice casual/dress shoes that last forever. Quality is worth the money.

Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
I know this thread is aobut quality shirts and such; most will probably look down on me for posting this, but if you need some cheap dress shirts, I think JCPenny.com is having a sale.
It's worth checking out - $8 a shirt on some of these!

+1 on the Brooks Bros. Their shirts are very comfortable, have been buying them for about 20 years myself. And they last a long time and still look great.

Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
I agree about the Brooks Brothers shirts, pants, etc. One of the nice things is the service you get when you walk into their stores. The wrinkle free shirts are nice if you can't get to a dry cleaner on a regular basis. They are worth the $$
Take Care

Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
I'll go ahead and put my flame suite on...
Personally, I believe in quality over quantity. All of my shirts are either Hugo Boss, Paul Smith, Burberry, D&G or Faconnable. Yes, they cost a bit more than the average shirt out there but they LAST and LAST and LAST. They are extremely high quality, stay stylish and fit like a glove.
Same goes for my suits. I don't have many, but they are all Hugo Boss or Paul Smith. I would rather have one nice shirt than five "OK" shirts.
But that's just me.

P1et- I agree. Quality over Quanity. If is not going to last, it is going to look like it is not going to last.

Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
Have heard of and seen them advertised before--just recently got a couple shirts from this company
thomaspink.com :: Thomas Pink
They are on the high end (understatement!) price wise, but the fit for me is perfect--seem to be between a slim fit and overly baggy. Very nice shirts.

Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
I only read a few posts at the beggining and i am going to try to skip to my recomendations. My family has owned high end mens and womens clothing stores since around 1932 or something like that. I was brought up with the best of the best (clothing wise) because i got it for wholesale price.
I agree with you... all clothes right now are a worthy investment. I am 14 and already i am buying literally the best shoes that i can buy because i doubt my foot is going to get much bigger then an 11.5 because my dad is an 8.
With my experiance behind me, i think i can safely say stay away from Abercrombie/Hollister/J Crew/lacoste all of those fasion based companies because their clothes are only made for 1 season.
Products i recomend:
Bugatchi- - Bugatchi Uomo - -we carry them in oour store and we LOVE it.
Enro shirts -dressy shirts... there non rinkle shirts that really work!
There are so many more but right now cant think of them. If you need proffesional help with this give jeff wendell (my dad) a call at his store. Its called John Norman, we are located in roanoke VA. The number is 540-989-3101.
Also, if you want new polo shirts we found the most AMAZING shirt ever! its great! it feels like the lacoste shirt but the feeling isnt going to go away. Its called southern tide.
Anyway, if you want some shirts and dont mind waiting a week and have a credit card and such. my father can accomodate shipping stuff to you.
,Daniel
P.S. this is probobly a bad post, but i am very tired so im going to go to bed!

Re: Dress Shirts Reccomendations...
Daniel,
Does your father have a website or catalog where I can view some of these shirts? I am interested in ordering some but would like to see them first.
Thanks,
Josh
