Semi casual clothes for guys

Hey,

So lately I decided to dress better. I normally just wear an el-cheapo baggy t-shirt with baggy jeans. Not because I'm into some baggy style or anything but because it's really comfortable lol.

So what I'm wondering, is what kinda stuff is semi casual? I mean I know what semi casual is but what looks good? I'm talking about stuff to wear to class or when I'm out socially. So no suites or anything lol, but decent stuff, better than the t-shirt and baggy jeans I've got going now! lol

I like polo shirts and white/khaki shorts for most days. For going out, I usually wear pants or jeans and a loose dress shirt:

Yeah, I normally wear a t-shirt/jeans/cowboy boots most days. On days when im out to eat, or going somewhere nice, I will put on nicer jeans with cowboy boots and a sweater or nice shirt. In summer, like timmah, it's a buttonup shirt with jeans and some rainbows. It look cool, and can almost go anywhere.

For me the best place to shop for good casual clothes is Banana Republic. I know they can be very pricey. But they have great style. You can go to The Gap too, they are under the same family. Just one cost more then the other. just like our waxes.

Check out the casual chinos and see what you like. I like there line of clothing. Most of the time I dress casual for work. And for church I dress casual on a Friday night and on Sundays I where my suits. Best thing to do is see how they put colors together and what goes together. Soon you will see what looks good for yourself. Remember there are outlets too for Banana Republic. And they always have sales.

But remember clothes has do's and don't, like our cars. But its not hard to know them. but when you master it, you will be looking sharp!

And always have a good fragrance. women LOVE it!

You can always check out L.L.Bean: Over 150 New Products - Outerwear, Swimwear and More - they have nice clothes that dont cost a fortune and fantastic customer service if you dont like something or the quality isnt up to par.

If you have a Kohls (sp) near you check them out. They have a lot of decent stuff and they always seem to have sales.

Polo shirts, not necessarily polo though. My favorite is southern tide. I wear sperry topsiders a lot. I wear Enro khaki's (the best khakis you will find, though sometimes a little pricey). I wear lacoste and some J crew but i dont buy from them any longer. Some cooper jones, a lot of different things... and occasionally i sport my infamous kumho t shirts... i have like a thousand... we used to be sponsored by them.

Good luck and just wear what you like... but make sure its clean!

I just came across this thread and I am very interested. I am located in close proximity to Scottsdale, AZ, and discovered during the Super Bowl festivitites that I needed to find a balance between casual and formal. So far, it seems like Express (the men's one lol) may be a good place. I've also always liked Tommy Bahama, but that tends to be outside of my price range.

I got a couple of Tommy's off ebay and they were the real deal. There's nothing like silk, although they're not for everyday and I always wear an undershirt as not to damage my better stuff. And worthy of mention, although hard to believe, I found some kick *** heavyweight casual khaki's at Walmart for $14, yes Walmart. They actually look as good and fit better than some A&F's I have.

I have never been one for "dressing up". So even "semi-casual"has been a little too dressed up for me. I am a shorts and t-shirt guy and usually won't put myself in situations where dressing up is needed. But, this last Valentine's Day, I got a wild hair up my butt and decided to do something nice for my new bride.

I had always wanted a black leather blazer just cuz they are cool and you can dress them up with slacks and down with jeans. So I went to the Men's Warehouse to find one. I ended up with the blazer, a new shirt, a really cool pair of nice jeans, shoes, socks and a belt to the tune of $560!

The thing that I like about these clothes are that they "fit". I am a big guy at 6'5" 300lbs so my typical thsirt size is either 3 or 4XL. The fitted me with a 2XLT shirt that wasn't form fitting but it fit perfect. The sleeves were perfect, even when I raised my arms up and the length was perfect for either tucking or wearing untucked. The jacket fits great as well!! What struck me the most was how spending money on "real" clothes, as opposed to tshirts wasn't as big a deal as I thought it was going to be. I kept waiting for the reality of $560 (three details) to hit me but it never did. Wearing clothes that fit right and making my wife happy were worth the amount spent.

Just some food for thought! I am kinda looking forward to buying some more dress casual clothes in the near future!! (Never thought I would hear myself say that!!!)

Gotta go with the lacoste on this one, I love a nice pair of lacoste jeans and a lacoste polo, really comfortable, but still classy. I also am a big fan of sweaters and cardigans. I'm the only kid i know who likes wearing khakis on a regular basis. Ralph Lauren also makes some real nice stuff, but I go with Lacoste for the exclusiveity of it.
