I use mostly Optimum, Meguiars and HD products now. Never bought into the whole layering fetish (sealants don't film build on top of each other, all have carriers that will remove some of what is already on the paint) and since it isn't much of a secret anymore that Zaino products are either relabled or tweaked versions of Duragloss products, if I am going that route, I'd just use the Duragloss stuff because it is a lot cheaper. I mostly use Optimum Opti-Seal as my LSP. Looks great, excellent depth and durability and nothing is easier to use. Hope this helps.
I've been on the zaino train for a long time, can I ask what made you switch and what products you switched to? Was it for ease of use, better finishes, maybe easier to get? Just curious.
It's been a really long time since I used Zaino, moved on to better products. What I was probably doing is adding Z8 to the original version of ONR to add more gloss while washing. ONR v3 leaves the paint so glossy and slick I don't use any QD's anymore. Don't remember anything involving pads or using it with Z2 or Z5. Got to be 5-6 years now since I've used Zaino stuff other than on one customer's cars (Z5) and even he has me use Opti-Seal instead but maintains it with Z8.
Hey Scottwax! first off, I love your posts, every one reminds me why I love detailing so much. Secondly, I remember a thread a while back where Zaino was the topic of discussion and you had a sercret tip or trick using the Zaino Z8.. Either you were mixing it in with z2 or z5 or maybe priming the pad before using z2 or z5 or something, anywho, What was that??? I have been trying (using the search feature) to find that thread and cant find it. Your help is appreciated! Thanks, keep the posts comming.
My thoughts are I never want to do it again! Back when paints were softer, you could polish cars out by hand pretty well. Not anymore. You can polish more deeply and evenly by machine.
Hi Scott- I read over at autogeek you used to detail cars entirely by hand. What are your thoughts and how did it come out? Thanks
Still in the DFW area, about 4 miles north of Jerry Jones Boss Hog Bowl in Arlington. I've trained a few people, nothing formal though.
I saw your post on what new members need to know and you seem have years of experience in detailing cars. Do you train people? Because it looks like there is a lot to learn from someone like you.
How are you Scottwax are you still in the DFW area?
Rob, same here, got a gallon actually sent out to Arizona. Didn't mention it either since I was sure of the release date. Same thoughts on GPS and the MF pads. Great combination!
