Yeah, but that's today's world, isn't it? You buy a hammer, it says don't hit yourself in the head with this because you could be seriously killed, you buy a ladder, it says be careful climbing on this, you could fall off and be seriously killed, and if you're holding a hammer while you're on the ladder...well, not only could you be killed, but the hammer might hit you in the head...

Re: Who actually still has a 56k modem?
Brighouse:
5 megs @ home
Alltel EVDO on the cell phone to laptop
1.5 megs down to 300k. 900k-1.5 in the cities, and down to 300k in the middle of no where.
56k is my backup.

Re: Who actually still has a 56k modem?
We have cable. We have cat 5 cables going into every room of our house and a central point where it all meets with a modem and a wireless router. We run everything off of wireless though. I ran my xbox of of wireless until I started getting a bad connection with it. Wireless and cable is the way to go.

Re: Who actually still has a 56k modem?
Some people want to feel special that they have cable or DSl with is why they post 56K beware. This does help sometimes though if I am on my Blackberry which can be slow every now and then.

Geez, what's the big deal anyway? I think it's more annoying that people are actually complaining about such a trivial thing.

Re: Who actually still has a 56k modem?
Heh heh, when out cable went out last week (took 'em six days to fix it!) I was glad that one of our PCs still had a 56K modem
I don't mind the 56K warnings, gives me an inkling about what's on the thread. It's like when somebody says "30 pics included".

'I\'ve been using Comcast high speed internet ever since Napster was free (the main reason was to download music fast).'

Re: Who actually still has a 56k modem?
Why on earth do people still use the "56K - no way" or "56K - go back to sleep" messages.
Unless we're keeping Eastern Europeans in mind, there is no need for this.
