Wink

Looks as though the majority of autopians own black cars (~30%). Are we detailing out of enjoyment or necessity?

according to bmw...its called steel blue...
it can look very light purple....or dark gray...depending on the time of day..and type of day...overcast days make it look darker...

every now & then it looks blue...

Black cars

My black car looks great, for about the first 3 or 4 hours after I wash it. Then the dust starts to show and I start thinking about when I will be able to find the time to wash it again. I just received my new Covercraft car cover. Now maybe I can get by with just washing the car once or twice a week.

Taupe Frost Metallic
It's sorta a dark taupe, but the zaino just has an amazing way of letting the metallic flakes reflect light. in one word-beautiful...

Black is the prettiest when clean and detailed, but the ugliest when only slightly dirty, good for a garage queen, though...

My car hides dirt incredibly well! Even though others may think it's still clean, I still give her a good bath every weekend...lol

Milano Red

I didn't want a red car back in the day, but it grows on me the more I look at it, which is quite often

My 5 series is silver, my 3 series is silver grey, my Mustang is Jalopena red, and my wifes Mountaineer is Black. The truck is the hardest to maintain. Silver is great.

Heh heh, my thoughts exactly Most of ours are variations on silver, but I do have the "tender blue" (how's *that* for a precious name!) RX-7 and the Byzanz M3, which is a pretty cool color IMO.

For *years* I said I'd only own black cars, but man do I have a lot more time for other things since I got over that!

Heh heh, some people really do detail out of enjoyment huh? That's the sort of question I avoided asking myself back when I had black cars; you folks with black had *better* enjoy it

You’d be amazed how many different shades of black there are. Try parking black cars from different makers next to each other some time.

Obtw, if you want your car to be really black do not shoot it with DuPont Centari enamel. (Don’t remind me how I know that.)

Oh, and our cars are white, mint green, light blue and black.

Ditto that. My black car actually has a brown look in direct sunlight. Or maybe it really wouldn't be considered black, but according to the color code it's black.

Two silver cars here. My Spec V is molten silver, and I absolutely am in love with the paint color. It gives a gorgeous liquid silver look in sunlight, and a cool blue hue in the shade. My SE-R is brillant aluminum, and I am not as big of a fan of this shade of silver, as it's rather bland and white looking. No where near as nice as molten silver.

My fiancee has a black car, and it makes me cringe. So happy I have silver! I'm a good person, though, and I buy all sorts of polishes and stuff to use on his car. I care more about what his paint looks like then he does most of the time...
