Since we're going off-topic on raccoons...

My uncle had a pet raccoon for many years so I too sorta like them. But then a few of them moved into our attic while the house was being redone/expanded. Had a litter of pups or two. Ended up costing me $5K in insurance deductibles, $3K in security system rewiring, and it cost the insurance company a small fortune. They had to decontaminate the attic with very involved processes (guys in space suits, etc.), replace all the insulation, etc. etc.

SO....leave the snows on lest you get more acquainted with raccoons than you want to be. You don't want your pal bringing his girlfriend to visit

Last year I'd just taken the snows off the minivan when the lady rear-ended me. I was happy to have the rent-a-Suburban when we got a freak mid-March snowstorm.

I voted no too for a couple reasons, if you put them on you'll jinx yourself and it will snow and I'd be too lazy to change them out. lol

Well that settles it. 17 votes, all said no. LOL

The forecast is actually calling for a couple chances of snow now through the week. I guess I'm already jinxed just for mentioning it huh?

I can relate to your dilemma. I am tempted to do the same, but with my luck the warm winter we seem to be having lately will probably spring a surprise blizzard on us, just as I would've put the wheels on (yup and alllll of that salt that comes with it). I am holding out till April 1st. If I'm lucky then my wheels will go on then.

If you really want to do it, then by all means!! You do have to take risks sometimes.

Well, it snowed yesterday, and it's supposed to snow tonight.

I think I'll wait for mid-March and see how it looks.

Yes, quit being a (fill in the blank).

Here's how I think of it...

I'm a detailer. I know the ins and outs (for the most part) of taking care of paint. The wheels are painted, so I keep them polished and protected reguarly (1 layer of sealant every 2 weeks and washed weekly).

Furthermore, if you are worried about the snow with higher performance tires, don't. If it's *that* bad out, you really shouldn't be on the road to begin with. During all of the bad storms, CT stations say "Stay off the road".

Sorry, I couldn't stand looking at my stock wheels for that long knowing that I had nice ones begging to be driven on. I did it for 2 winters and I look back and wonder why.

Well I had performance all-seasons on the Maxima, and those sucked in the snow. The thought of those tires in snow just makes me cringe just considering a drive in the snow with the ultra hi-performance summer tires. They have no sipes at all, and lots of large flat tread blocks. No real snow grabbing ability.

And I can't just stay home whenever it snows. I have school/work (same place).
