deep contamination in gel coat

whats up guys

was working a boat recenetly and the gel coat is pepered with blackish/brown specs deep in the gel coat (ALL on the flat/horizantial surfaces). It looks like some heavy duty compound was ground down into the small pits and porosity of the surface. From your experiece on gel coat in decent condition (not an old boat) will this wet sand out and buff back to high gloss. The rest of the work I just did came out great and these small sections really take away from the overall appearence
