Do graphics on boats need to be taped off when polishing/waxing, or are they under the Gelcoat?

Some are the gel coat and others you should be able to feel if they are on the surface.

Generally if they are a single color 'tape decal' i don't tape them off unless i am doing heavy correction. If they are painted decals, like airbrushed ones, then anything more than polishing i would tape. Always check your work when in doubt.
