Heat!

Its that time of year again! What is everyones method of heating the garage? The ones of you that do not have gas. I dont and im all electric and I want something to help with the cold this winter. Im thinking something small like a propane tank with top mount heating element.

We're putting in giant wood burners this week for ours. We have natural gas hooked up here but the dang things are at least 30 years old or more and are about as efficient as a match stick in a hurricane. Would cost us more to heat the place than we pay in rent. And since I own 10 acres of harwood trees we have ample supply of wood.

This thread makes me wonder - should I move all my detailing supplies indoors? It will likely get below freezing in my garage for a stretch this winter (DC metro) and I know that petroleum products and mixed products tend to separate or deteriorate in colder weather.

Advice?

Im in MN and I keep mine in our garage all year long. To be fair, my garage is below the living room ala townhouse style so it says usually above 20 degrees or so. I just take insulation (you know the pink stuff) and wrap it around my cabnits and its all good.

Will also try electric after the room is comfortable.

Also i think i will go for the blue flame model instead of the infrared. My thinking is the blue flame will take the chill off quicker and would dry carpets better. I might use an electric radiant heater though.

I have gas going to my garage but my father said that i shouldnt have an open flame heater in a garage that houses cars and my products. Would this be a problem?

My heating device is the FL sun

I bet its gonna get down to a chillin 60 degrees this "winter"

My father-in-law lives in FL. Usually around this time of year my wife and I visit him.

I dunno, to me there is something "wrong" with spending Christmas laying by the pool in your shorts.

For me I love those tiny little Vornado heaters. They heat the coils and spin the air out in a way that reflects backs and shoots all over the room. These work great inside and can easily bring the temparature up to about 10 degrees warmer. If you have another heating source it will work even faster if you use both.
