Painting Blacktop Garage Floor

My driveway is going to be redone with new blacktop. My concrete garage floor is in bad shape and as a cost saving measure, I am considering having the blacktop run through into the garage. It will be a 2 inch street mix. There will be additional preparation under where the tires will rest to help prevent eventual sinkage. It is a certain type that has a tight composition. It is not rocky or very porous.

My question is whether or not there are DIY garage floor products available made to cover blacktop with an epoxy product?

If not an epoxy, what are other products that can be used over blacktop that can withstand the traffic and wear and tear from cars.

Let me first state that I have zero experience / knowledge or know how about this. I am certainly not an expert, nor could I testify in a court of law concerning this subject. However...

I don't think it would work. Especially with new asphalt.

Asphalt is primarily a petroleum product, and I don't know of any type of paint or epoxy that will bond with oil. In high school, we could 'buy' our parking spaces and custom paint them (asphalt lot). No matter what you did, the paint would start to wear in just a couple of weeks. Granted, that's outside in the weather, but I can't imagine it working much better in a garage that will still get hot / wet.

You can seal coat the black top driveway. Just make sure the surface is clean of any dirt or rocks that may be in any crevices to help the seal coat the cracks. I don't know where you can pick this stuff up, but I used to do big parking lots. We had spray guns that would spray 7 gallons of this stuff a minute. We did a 103,000sq. ft. parking lot in about 2 1/2 hours applying 2 coats. That is also with a drying time of one hour between coats!

Update - We will *not* be blacktopping the garage. Two other contractors told me that's a horrible idea given that the temperature in the garage in summer with 2 hot cars will reach such extremes that the blacktop will stink up the garage with noxious smells and be too soft. They said that was doing it on the cheap and not a good idea. They also said a street mix for the driveway is not good too because it will pool and puddle in certain areas and not drain well even with a proper pitch.

We are very happy with one contractor; he know his stuff, but of course it's a fortune.

So we're waffling about what to do next; whether or not to drop thousands and thousands for a new driveway, cement walkway and cement garage floor.
