Best Garage Floor covering?

Who makes the best garage floor covering that will hold up to traffic and other wear and tear? All comments are welcome.

UCoat?

I haven't tried it, but from my research it is the best bang for your buck. If money is no object u can get one of those mats or a race deck

Re: Best Garage Floor covering?

Seems like they vary widely! I did my with the Rustoleum Epoxy from Lowes... Has stood up very well!

I took 2 days to prep the floor.... Think it's like detailing.... All in the prep!

How did YOU prep your floor?

As a side note, I think I am involved in every garage floor coating thread haha. I have the RustOleum sitting in my garage but I've been concerned because I don't want it to peel.

Thanks for the info!

Re: Best Garage Floor covering?

I think that the answer to this question ultimately depends upon who uses the floor and how it will be used. For some it's VCT tile for others it's Race Deck, others like epoxy and for some it's a stain. I use my floor heavily, I also take care of it. I have been very happy with UCoatIt's product. I've used both Rustoleum's commercial product (basement storage) and UCoatIt's UGloss AF product. It's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. The UCoatIt was twice as much money but was a better product in my opinion. It has held up to all types of spills though I clean them up immediately, no tire lift and I do pad my jack stands. There is a ton of information on garage floors over on GarageJournal.com

Re: Best Garage Floor covering?

twitch..
Day one... Spot scrub any oil/grease spots with straight Simple Green. Power washed with 1500psi washer. Let dry... Then used Quickcrete concrete sealer to fix small cracks. Took most of day one...

Day Two... Scrub whole floor with broom and Simple Green two times, rinsing between. Then used critic acid that came with epoxy kit and scrubbed with broom. Rinsed 2 more times and let dry overnight.......

Been 2 years now and no lifting or flaking! Also agree with Gearhead, Garage Journal is a great site for garage/tool info!

Re: Best Garage Floor covering?

I was all set on putting down RACE DECK flooring in my garage until I saw this product.
Epoxy Flooring - ArmorPoxy Factory Coating Store
It carries a 30 year warranty compaired to RD 15 year warranty and it is twice as heavy .
Does anybody know about this product or even RD for that matter?
I thought about the epoxy idea but heard many upsetting stories and I really want to do this only 1 time. So please any input would be appreciated.. thank you

Re: Best Garage Floor covering?

Consumer grade epoxy painted floors fail over time, a fact not readily disclosed by those enthusiastically post pictures of their freshly painted floors. It's no wonder that you never see honest pictures of epoxy painted floors after 1-2 years.

My acid stained and clear coated garage floor is holding up well after 2 years. Since the acid stain deeply penetrates the concrete, only the clear coat needs periodic maintenance.

When you say "my garage" is that your garage in the pic? Home garage? If so, you are one lucky SOB! I never thought of acid staining the garage floor. Nice idea and looks good.
