Driveway concrete stain???

I just put down a couple of layers of H&C Concrete Stain (water soluble) on the driveway. I let it dry for three days and moved the cars back onto the drive. Now there are tire tracks that seem to be embedded in the stain. The guy at Sherwin Williams said to use the water soluble stain if it had already been painted, the xylene based stuff is only for bare concrete. From what I have read up on, the xylene base stain is better for exterior use. Could this be why I now have tire tracks????

As A Former Painting Contractor ...

I'd say that you got the correct info on overcoating previous surfaces. However, I never liked the water-based H&C and preferred a high quality, high gloss dark gray alkyd enamel for repaints. (Save some for touch-ups.) Cleans up easy, doesn't show dirt, and is durable. However, it's slick as hell when when wet (don't run on it wearing wet shoes -- and don't try to stop short when driving in from the rain).

I accidentally came across a solution for the tire tracks. EF Hi Intensity and a little bit of brushing got most of the black off!! I will be ordering a gallon today..... Love it for the wheels too.
