Wall hose reel is perfect!

After years of struggling with a floor winder water hose, I came across the answer this afternoon - a wall mounted self-winding hose reel.

I paid my NZ$99 (about US$65), brought it home and proceeded to set it up on the wall. In 5 minutes I was running out the 66 feet of hose and walking it back in again... what a change from all the effort I had winding my last hose up before!

I mounted the whole unit just inside my garage, as the tap is just outside the garage door. So now I can open the door, clip the feeder hose on to the tap, and pull the hose out straight away ready to use.

The unit swivels on the wall so I can push it back to stay out of the way when the garage door comes down again.

That is really nice and wish I could fine one in the US. I am also tired of winding my hose up. Were did you get it?

I went to ace hardware and spent $20 dollars or so on a deal that hand crank the hose up and it mounts to the side of the house. It works very well, had it for over a year now.

I too have used the old hand crank plastic thing for a number of years but the only drawback is that they all seem to attach to the reel itself so that when you wind it up the hose gets crimped and unless you unwind the whole thing, you have a pinched hose.

Is this automatic reel the same kind of connection or do you get a straight connection? I can't really tell from the picture

At a local hardware shop here - not much use to you in the States. It's one of two brands available, but this one was made in Japan and one and a half times cheaper than the other!

It actually has a feeder at the front which goes back and forth and winds the hose evenly over the reel inside. No kinking!

I leave the water house on the ground as well, outside at that

I need a new reel for the water hose, the last one broke which is why the hose is on the ground, really

For air, I recently bought this one from Lowes. I haven't mounted it yet, hopefully this weekend or next.
