some quick pictures of my garage

I just put up 3 more 4' fluorescents. That's all I plan on for now. One day I'll wire in the attic to clean it up a bit, and I'd eventually like to finish the drywall better on the walls and ceiling and then paint it and put some nicer wall-mounted shelves in. I'd also like to put some mat of some type down on the floor. But for now it is well lit and clean and I can work in there. The garage is a two-car with nice 9' ceilings. It isn't overly deep, though, but is wide enough I can open my door without hitting my wife's car. It's an acceptable size, though by no means big. I don't think it will be my last garage, so I don't have any delusions of making it an amazing garage. But I would like to just have it more finished and nice and organized.

My plan with the lights revolves around the fact that my garage isn't overly deep, and that I generally work on the car with the garage door open for space and fresh air. So I didn't want lights that were above the door when it is open as they would be rendered useless. I ran one between the doors in the middle, and ones right at the edge of them when open. It is really quite bright for only 6 4' double-bulbed fixtures and 2 100 watt incandescents (plus the garage door opener lights, I suppose). I also put one in the middle as close to the end of the garage as was reasonable so that it would shine into the engine compartments when the hoods were open. It makes it much easier to check fluid levels and such.

I will be building a shed to get garden stuff out of the garage. Also, all those boxes of crap are there because our neighborhood had a garage sale today. We normally park two cars in it.

Oh, currently the fluorescents plug into the incandescent base. I bought ones with the outlet in them. It works for now. And you can see my Little Giant ladder! That thing is awesome! It stores about 5' 6" high, but can extend to a 9' A-frame ladder or a 17' straight ladder. I love it because it is easy to store and carry around when collapsed.

Dude, your ceilings look like mine do with all the cords going all over the place. I'd like to clean mine up but it just takes a back seat to other more pressing jobs out there....
