Windshield Replacement

I've got a crack in the windshield and the entire thing replaced. If I go to a local auto glass store, can I have them install OEM (not OEM quality) glass? Or won't insurance companies go for that? Will the shop have to special order the windshield?

Yes you can. Most of the Glass Shops are more than willing to work with you. They just get their mark-up on whatever they sell you.

insurance will pay a certain amount, the shop will do whatever else and charge you the difference. some insrance policies specify only OEM parts or if you get to chose the repair shop chose one that will only work with OEM stuff, the insurance company will have to honor that.
