T12 to T8 lights

Is there any problems with using T8 fluorescent lightbulbs inplace of T12 fluorescent lightbulbs?

Yes. The T8s require a completely different ballast.

I believe you'll find different diameters of bulbs, and incompatible connecters/sockets.

However, T8s are the way to go. Good, (high color temp) bulbs are only available from specialty mfgs - and a little pricey...

Jim,

Do you have any links to online sellers of T8 bulbs and/or fixtures that you would recommend?

If anyone wants a price quote on t8 bulbs or fixtures, i just need to know a little more information, length of fixture, will it need to be a 0 degree balast (for cold weather), does it need a cover, or just exposed bulbs. Just let me know and i can get you several prices from several companies. (helps alot when your father works in the electrical equiptment distribution business)
