I asd tasked by my godmother to seal her driveway.
She purchased three 5 gallon pails of the filler sealant from Sears that cost $11.97 each (think the name is perma crete? of something.) this stuff is pictured on the top right in the garage. We purchased one more that night and the next day that base coat was finished. It must of been the time of day but that driveway sealant dried to a grayish black. Also streaks were everywhere. Try mixing this stuff by hand with a stick. It was like mixing 1/2 wet sand into 1/2 water. Terrible took 2+ hours along just mixing the stuff. I give this product a big thumbs down. Never get it, a waste of money.
As prep work I rinsed the driveway and degreased spots and filled in cracks. I then applied a spot primer for the oil stains that didn't seem to grt removed by the degreaser. I let it dry for 6 hours. I then swept the surface and started to apply the Sears driveway sealant. It was messy stuff. I used a driveway sealant squeegie to spread the stuff. Came out all spotting and streaky. I was moaning and bi*ching about the darn stuff.
That was Monday. Tuesday night I went out and got four 5 gallon buckets of Latexite Optimum driveway sealant (
www.latexite.com ) I applied it this morning at 10 AM or so. Mixing, I stired it a little..but not to much. I then poured away and let this stuff flow, it was like a thin gel, really easy to work with. It only took two five gallon buckets to cover the driveway. I put the other two in the basement for a later date.
I recommend the Latexite stuff for now (form Home Depot, $19 and change each.) I also used Latexite driveway cleaner and oil spot primer along with their crack filler. All excellent products.

Bottom left is after the Latexite sealant during afternoon sun. Must be the sun reflecting off the finish making it lighter.
Bottom right is after in the late afternoon, the sun was reflecting off the window causing that spot near the left of the picture.
