New Notebook computer

I'm looking to replace my laptop with a new unit , but this time I want something that will hold up in the garage and on & off-road. I found this company www.ruggednotebooks.com any one have one of these systems or any thought on them? thanks

There are a number of PC makers that have their own rugged laptops. I'm pretty sure that Panasonic makes one. NPR did a test awhile back, so you might want to check their archives. They ran them over with cars and everything, and I think they all kept working!

Or, you could always get an iBook

The Calgary Police Dept use the Panasonic Toughbooks in their patrol cars and some on site stuff. I've seen them tossed around, dropped, and spilt on so many times it's almost not funny anymore, and they've all survived.

The past Compaq Armada's were built very well. They have stood up to my abuse, and have never let me down (knock on hard wood). I recently fell on my current Armada while going down slippery stairs, and it still works just fine, because fixing the plastic with JB weld. I have dropped it more times then I can remember, spilled water and soda on it, and I even stepped on it all of this unintentional abuse.

I am to understand the IBM notebooks are solid built.

I vote for them. We have about 60 in service in my FD. They are VERY tough...but pricey.
