I've been planning on a garage overhaul for over a year. After looking at RedCar Guy & Ultigar's pictures, have finally started the plunge.

After having a professional epoxy floor installer tell me that I have too much moisture transfer for a reliable epoxy job, I ordered 428 - 12"x12" garage floor tiles from RaceDeck Modular Flooring (tuffdeck.com) on Saturday.

Upgrading lighting to 6 - 2 tube florescent's this weekend (21' x 22' garage interior).

Also, Sears is currently having one heck of a sale on their website on tool cabinets & chests. Being a shadetree mechanic, I get by with their non-roller bearing drawer cabinets. Although she doesn't know it yet, my dear wife purchased a 5 drawer rolling floor cabinet and a 9 drawer chest for me for Christmas. Both pieces cost $117.89 (including sales tax and shipping via UPS to our front door). These pieces were regularly priced at $129.99 and $99.95, respectfully.

No laptop, no waterfall(s), no scissors lift, but I'm thinking a wall mounted TV (kudo's RedCar Guy) and heater (suggestions appreciated) and I'm pretty much done. Total cost (less heater): less than $2,000.00.

Tips>
#1 Take alot of before and after pics

#2 Is the garage Insulated good?
#3 Are the Doors Insulated?
#4 What color are the walls/Ceiling?
#5 How long are the 6 two bulb lights?
#6 Do you have Access to Nat. Gas for the heater or using Elec.?

The price for the 428 12"x12" tiles & 18 edge moldings was $1,186.00, not including shipping. I'm guessing around $1,400.00 with shipping. Since I'm a general contractor by trade, I'm supposedly getting a contractor price.

Did you look at Motormat prior to purchasing the Racedeck? Im wondering how the two compare?

cork , i have been looking in to both race deck and motor mat.

i have samples here of both , they are both nice products , my only concern with the race deck is the diamonds might wear off in time or get a creaper or jack caught up.

Motor mat is a good deal cheaper and personally i think it's better fro those who are going to be using their garage as a garage , it seems that it will clean up easy and allow any water to drain off the surface.

I'm using both in my shop , motor mat for in front of my work bench and racedeck in my clean/storage room. The rest of the floor is painted with U Coat It.

Yes, I looked at Motormat's product, although I didn't receive a sample of it. RaceDeck makes a comparable perferated tile product which they call Duragrid. No diamond deck surfacing as with RaceDeck. I received sample of this product, but I prefer the appearance and rigidity of the RaceDeck tile.

The diamond treads will make rolling the floor jack and creeper more of a pain. But I only use them a few times a year and then it's usually in the driveway, not the garage.

I'll defer to detailbarn's opinion on both products as he has both installed and has lived with them.
