got AC in the garage now:)
yep i was at my Girl friends dads and he asked what I was up to.. I said "just being out in the garage" I also said "it has been hot working on the SS water pump" He say's "There is a window AC at my house you can have" I said I'll take it!" So yep, got ac Now. it does a ok job of cooling it off, not cold but cooler... Yesterday it was 94 out, and it was 79-82 in garage
I am happy, for free it was the best price

Fantastic! Just knocking down the temp 10- 12 degrees is HUGE! It will suck out some humidity, too. A pole mounted oscillating fan really helps, too. (See photo)

Congrats on the free AC
You will find have some type of climate control is great. AC in the summer and heat in the weather. Detailing is a lot more fun when the temps about 60-70* no wind, dust, sun and nosey neighbors watching your every move.

That's super, Redcar Guy!! And even better since it's free! My favorite price. I would love to have A/C to work in!!
I need to give the Volvo a washing today (we drove to Atlanta last night and encountered millions of bugs!) but kind of dread it because at 9:30 a.m. it's 82 w/74% humidity!!
Oh well, I'll just squirt myself down while I wash -- kind of like we did when we were kids.

I just moved an old dehumidifer from the basement to the garage. Combined with a nice fan, it's almost comfortable in there -- as long as I keep the doors closed.

That’s awesome. Let us know how you like it through the summer. I have thought about buying a window unit, but I would have to knock out a hole in the wall. I would really like to know if it proves to be worthwhile.

hmmph.
Anyone know any good mounting options for putting a window unit in a vinyl replacement window?? I have those, can't afford to do a room unit (also dont have enough floor space for it)..... so that leaves me with knocking a hole in the wall (not happening - especially through brick) or mount one funny in the window as to not break the window.
I had thought about doing a 2x4 bracing setup on the inside and outside of the window with a piece of plywood for the unit to sit on, then just surround the opening in the window with foam, I just don't know if it will work the way I want it to....

I really Dont think that is is worth it with the AC that I have, it keeps it cooler but not that cool. It was 96 outside, and 80 inside. Like I said it is cooler but not cold. If I had to buy a window AC I wouldnt. If I had Central air out there it may be a different story.. but a 60 foot tube running AC from the house might set the neighbors over the edge..........Bwaahahaha
