Anyone in need of a cheap rotary?

I drove to Rhode Island to buy one from the HF store. For 30 bucks you can't go wrong. I have been able to do some serious correction with it without any issues. The only thing it does that I don't like is ramp up the speed a bit by itself when it gets hot. (Thermal runaway). But for 30 bucks instead of two or four hundred it's was worth every penny. Especially for someone who doesn't do this full time.

Re: Anyone in need of a cheap rotary?

Was this sale nationwide or just in the store you were at? I have been to the store here in columbus and the rotary was $39.

Re: Anyone in need of a cheap rotary?

regardless...even if it were 100 bucks, you'd be saving 50-100 off a name brand rotary. (if it works that is)

Re: Anyone in need of a cheap rotary?

great tool, lacks soft start but for how cheap it is, it spins pads in circles just like the expensive ones.

Re: Anyone in need of a cheap rotary?

Well the only real problem that the chip one have is that they lack of The electronic speed control to maintains constant speed under load . It makes it harder to do low RPM buffing . You have to be more delicate with the pressure you put on the buffer since any little pressure changes the buffing speed .

Cheers , Jean Paul

Re: Anyone in need of a cheap rotary?

Did you guys notice this post was from last year? Anyways, the HF rotary goes on sale for $19.99 on a regular basis(online at least). The stores should honor online prices if you print out the ad that's listed online for the item you want to purchase. I've done this a few times with two of the local HF stores and they honored them with no questions asked.

Current price is $36.99 online.

By the way, the current one is 9.8 amps. I believe the ones HF used to offer a few years ago had an 11 amp motor. I've used the 9.8 amp version a few times and it's plenty strong enough for some major correction work. For $20, if you get through one car with it, it will have more than paid for itself.
