The FLEX dual action polisher comes with a 5.5 Inch Hook & Loop Backing Plate. So regular (6-6.5) pads are what are used. As of right now there are no other backing plates available.

Here is a review Flex XC 3401 VRG Review that can help.

Thanks. Nice review.

So I guess I would have to replace all my 5.5 inch low profile pads?

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

+1!! Mine came in on Friday!! I was busy over the weekend and now I am waiting for the weather to clear up. I canot wait to try it out.

This is what I have to start with:
Flex 3401 w/bag
Menzerna IP, FPII, Final touch glaze
6.5" LC pads: 2 orange, 2 white, and one red

Plus a handful of cars to practice with, any polishing will make them better than they are now.

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

Finally used mine yesterday and after using the PC for 3 years the Flex is a godsend. Now just have to get the Edge setup so I dont need to use PC for the 4" pads.

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

Got mine last week and started to polish the wifes excursion. I love it! Never had any experience but am getting great results with SIP / Yellow pad
finish with 106FA white.

What is the Edge setup?

Talking Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

Mine arrived last week. Debated on the PC and UDM before finding the Flex. I don't know how I ever lived with it. It is a true DA not a quasi - like the PC or UDM which are orbital vibrators.

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

Can I ask out of the 300+ people who've posted here that they got the flex, are there some total noob's like myself when it comes to machine polishing, and if so, how has that worked out? (If I can't get at least 2 or 3 answers maybe I'll start a new thread) Thanks! I would probably lean toward the UDM but in my work I run across some vehicles that have a scrape or two that dealers would pay me to remove, so was thinking maybe I should just make the leap to a Flex, even though I understand it would be a little harder to master.

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

I am a total newbie. I bought the Flex with LC yellow, green, white and blue pads along with menz SIP and 106FA.

My first attempt this past weekend was on the wifes kid mobile (2000 Ford Excursion)

It has a dark blue body with gold plastic lower panels. This thing is beat up. Tons of random minor scratches, swirls and oxidation. There are also some scratches down to primer.

With the above tools I have been able to get pretty much everything out of it but of course the deep to primer scratches.....still it looks a ton better!

Process was to
1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Polish wit SIP and yellow pad with Flex at #6
4. polish with 106FA and white pad at 4
5. Clean with lusso revitalize
6. wax with lusso oro

This is all in practice for my Silver 99 Porsche C2, that should only need 106FA.

I highly recommend this tool and products.....got mine from Phil at DetailersDomain
