My Flex is due to be delivered today!

I'm curious as to which pads everyone is using?

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

Got mine on Monday, but haven't had a chance to put it to work. I've played with a PC a few times, but I'm still a machine polishing newb. I'll try and give my opinion for those on the fence about their first polisher.

Re: Flex 3401 VRG Headcount

I got mine yesterday and my first impression is that it was bloody heavy.
The machine is built well, solid machine for sure.

I took it to town on my hood with a Blue CCS pad, and you can immediately tell that it has that much more power the the PC. It vibrates a lot but still feels "smoother" in the application of a polish.

5 hours after I did the hood my body basically started hurting, my arms, my shoulder and the back of my legs. Given I'm out of shape, and haven't done any work since November I find it reasonable given the weight of the machine. I compared it to my Hitachi Rotary and the PC and it was heavier then both.

I'm gonna have to hit the gym again to get into shape to use the machine.

Welcome aboard Pilot.

My Flex was one of the earlier models, so it did not come with the soft side grip. But from my understanding you have to take off the bale (sp?) handle (there is a screw on either side) and then the soft grip handle has a threaded screw on the end which would screw into either side (where you removed the screws from the bale handle). And I imagine you'd have to keep one of the original screws on the opposite side from the side grip. Again, I don't have the soft grip, but that's my understanding...

My suggestion...try it out with the bale handle and see how you like it. Most feedback I've read seemed to prefer the bale handle. Also, I took my bale handle off once and it was kinda a pain to get back on. Plus the screws that hold it on are very close threaded and it seemed to me it would be pretty easy to cross thread them. Not something I'd want to do too often.
