911 detail emergency!

I'm officially freaking out. I've been detailing this black mercury mountaineer and decided to try my dewalt rotary on it; first tried a polishing pad with menz IP but pad kept skipping and i made a few holograms, so then i used a black finishing pad with some menz FP, took out the holograms... SO... went over the rest of the car with the finishing pad and menz FP, speed set at 12 or 1300 max.
Started getting dark out, so i turned on my halogens and BAM swirrled to hell and tons of holograms. F**CK!!!!!! so, panicking, i grabbed my PC with a white ccs pad and menz IP and went to work. Weird thing is, the PC seemed to be doing a better job than the rotary, and seemed to be the fix.
Then, i grabbed my bottle of Klasse AIO and put some on the paint, which felt like it was applying very weirdly; very slick. Buffed it off with a microfiber, and BAM! *** IS ALL THAT!!!! it was like swirrls that werent there under the halogens suddenly appeared out of nowhere! and the AIO hazed up and was reaallly, really, bad looking. So, I grabbed my PC again, polished off the AIO haze, and grabbed some PRO WS 41 (Yellow paste wax). Applied the wax, and no hazing, just a nice slick surface.
Then, i went over the car again with my pc and i'm going to be putting a couple layers of carnauba (i recently bought some souveran which also looked fine under halogens).

Im really afraid of what i'm going to see tomorrow when the sun's out. Does anyone know what this is?! and what i should do??? it seems as if the carnauba is working, but why not the AIO??? *** *** *** *** AAAAAAHHHHH!!!! at least i've learned to stay away from that rotary until i know what i'm doing...

Re: 911 detail emergency!

Im no pro but I have been using a rotary for a while here are somethings to try to reduce the hopping of the pad while you're polishing:

1. ease up on the amount of product you're using
2. keep a squirt bottle handy with QD or water to keep the pad semi moist
3. dont apply pressure to the rotary, remember it does its work by rotating (unless you're doing some major paint correction).
4. keep the pad as flat as possible on the panels
5. you will have to keep the rotary moving a bit faster across a panel than you would a PC.

hope these tips help ya somewhat.

have you used your pc TO REMOVE DEFECTS BEFORE?

the nuba is only helping to hide the defects

and I am not sure whay you thought the AIO was going to do
but it is little more than a Chemical cleaner
and that is what it did, it removed all the stuff that was hidding the defects

Yea when i first got my rotary it was jumping around like CRAZY, but then i learned you cant put ANY pressure on it and you have to keep it flat or you will be thrown around.

Re: 911 detail emergency!

well a buddy of mine came over today to help give me some pointers; he said the paint wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it was and showed me some tricks to fix what i'd done. car ended up being the only black car i've ever been pleased with so far! basically what i learned is to really move a lot faster with the rotary than with the pc.
