Youtube buffing video.. questions!

This guy puts on a buttload of polish on the car.. is this right? he makes it look so easy! i always just dabble on 2 pea size on the paint and work it slower than that.

Re: Youtube buffing video.. questions!

It must be the polish that he is using. However when he switches to foam, he uses much less. He seems to know what he is doing. I wish we could see a direct shot of the finish to see if he left any swirls/holograms, but I doubt it.

I have the same polish/compound.. you really dont need that much as it spreads pretty good and doesnt dry up. It doesnt seem to me like he's using less when he switched over to foam... just still a buttload! at that rate, it will half the bottle to do one car!

Some people don't like to spend 18 hours polishing a 1/4 ton. I don't see anything wrong with his style...and he is using a wool pad...those things suck up a lotta polish if they're dry to begin with.

same guy, seems to use a significant amount less, but is doing something that doesn't require a lot of polish.

The guy seems like a total douche whoever he is.. although that buffer looks badass! what brand is it?

Anyways, i picked up a bottle of the system one not too long ago. Its kind of a strange product. Alone, its pretty weak and i couldnt take out 2000grit sandmarks with it that quick at 1200-1500 rpms. But mix a little with HTEC and it seems to make the HTEC stronger and more workable!

This stuff is very oil like. you could actually see the panel darken (like wax does) as you apply it.. so i think it'll look great in the sunlight because it might be hiding the swirls.. although i like to see him do a alcohol wipe down test!

Oh, is it me or does that buffer seem to be screaming! I wonder what speed he has it on?

Pretty sure that was a DeWalt rotary.

Re: Youtube buffing video.. questions!

the first one he's using a dewalt rotary (I have the exact same one) using a ton of product making the product do the work to cut through that sever amount of oxidation. I personally don't see anything wrong with what he's doing. The only harm I see is he'll spend more in product LOL. The 2nd one.... Nuff said he's good and we all want to posses such skills LOL. the 3rd one. If I ever saw any of my detailers doing that to a customer car I would show them the door and spread the word to other shops in the area about the antics. That's just down right disrespectful and possibly highly damaging.
