HELP! Corvette clear - ceramiclear?

I'm in the process of doing a black corvette C5. I'm having a hell of a time polishing some serious marring out of it. It's taking me forever to do a 2x2 area.

My question is whether it has ceramiclear or similar because this stuff is impossible!

I'm using #83/orange pad with a BO6040.

I don't have any of the ceramiclear polishes.

I'm also worried because next I have a strrreeeeeeecccched Hummer H2, followed by a regular H2, followed by a Yukon with Viper engine.

I'm unfamiliar with these American paints and am struggling.

Any suggestions? Heeelp!

They are not ceramiclear, but as you see are very hard. IMO you need a true rotary to do serious defect correction on a corvette. Even with a rotary sometimes a orange pad is not enough on a vette.

Yeah, I hear you.

I've switched to a Megs yellow, and while softer (but open cell foam), seems to work the polish better than the orange, which is a closed cell foam.

I tried to finish off with #80 but, again, not satisfied. I switched to Menzerna Micropolish and wow!

You know, whenever I have polish trouble I go back to Menzerna and it bails me out. I don't know why I move away from it in the first place.

Probably just thick.

Is the H2 made by GM? I guess what I'm asking is whether it has the same hard paint as the C5.

Any other advice anyone has with US cars? Yukon?

I have never detailed a hummer, the clear will be on the hard side but not as hard as the vette. Same for the yukon. Yes the menzerna polished always work well.

I've also got a black C5 and the paint is definitely very hard, but it's not ceramiclear though.

The one thing about a black Corvette is that it's impossible to get the paint to be 100% perfect, after 30 hours of polishing mine I've come to realize that it'll never be showcar perfect. But it's my daily driver, so I have to make sure I leave some clearcoat behind for protection!

For help on the Hummer and Yukon... those should be much easier than the 'vette. The H2 is made by GM (you'll notice that it looks almost exactly like a mix between an escalade and a yukon on the inside). I have always found GM paints to be very easy to work on. If you have ever worked on a newer Saab... same paint (or very similar process adapted from GM).

I have a black C-6 corvette and I tried many polishes before I found the magic bullet. For me, it's Menzerna SIP with an orange pad via rotory. It has just the right amount of bite that removes all marring without hazing and clouding the finish. Only use a little bit of product, like 2 or 3 pea sized drops. Any possible leftover hologramming can be removed by 106ff. I know you don't have these products but if your gonna keep detailing vette's I suggest you buy some.
