What Pads with UDM??

Im confused with what pads are the best to use with the UDM--I see many differant types included with certain deals.

There are 5" or 6" pads?

Diff. Pads are LC CCS pads or the DAS foam pads?

Does it really matter or just a prefernace---Im not going to be a Pro detailer, just doing my cars for now..lol

Re: What Pads with UDM??

either pad will work fine. Most people seem to use 6" pads for the UDM. The smaller the pad, the more aggressive it is, BUT it will take longer because the pad is small.

So unless you are trying to get out really bad scratches, a 6" pad will suit you fine.

Re: What Pads with UDM??

I like using the 5 inch pad that comes with the UDM. It comes with the swirlbuster pad I think, it's white with the little indents for polish to go in. I will be buying 5 1/4" ccs pads from chemical guys someday. The 6 inch pads I have are not bad either, but I just prefer a smaller pad .

Re: What Pads with UDM??

If you got a white pad and no other pad with the UDM and/or you didn't get a package deal, it's NOT the swirl buster pad. The white standard pad is a light polishing pad. It's pretty much an all-around pad that's not excellent in any one thing.

I would use the 5" pads. They're easier to center on the stock backing plate and you get more correction out of them without being too aggressive. For spreading stuff like wax, they're not too small. It's really a preference thing though since you can obviously cover more area at once with a larger pad. I honestly don't think that 1" extra is worth the hassle and the correction power deficit (which really isn't all that much anyway.)

My UDM came with a 6-in foam white polishing pad but I use the 5-in LC CSS pads from Danase. They have a nice mix/match bundle (6 for the price of 5).

Re: What Pads with UDM??

So are Edge 2K pads/adapter okay with the UDM? I lost track of what the status is. Is it waiting on the redesign of the counterweights?
