best pad/polish combo

I am going to beat this topic once more. 2001 GMC Sierra Pewter Metallic-I got the Ultima sample pack and before I go to work with the PC and an orange LC CCS pad with the paint prep, I want to remove the minor swirls.
What would my best options be as far as polishing? I used poorboys SSR before and didnt like it much. Would I be fine just using 106ff or IP and an orange CCS pad? Or should I try something else?

I agree. While the PB's SSR polishes are OK with a PC, they are no match for the Menzerna polishes, or even the Meguiar's polishes. The IP with the cutting pad might do it... just be persistent.

In the Meguiar's line, you could try DACP, followed by Speed Glaze.

Re: best pad/polish combo

You'll want the best cutting ability you can get in a polish for use with a PC. The best cutting ability medium polishes on market right now are Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, Blackfire Scratch Resistant Compound, and finally Einszett Pasta Intensiv.

These are all medium cut polishes that work *very* well with a PC. Well, at least the first two do, as I have them and use them. Not sure about the Einszett, though, it's brand new and I haven't tried it.

Using a regular medium cut polish like Poorboys, Menzerna Intensive Polish, or Optimum Polish just won't give you as much cutting (correcting) ability as one of the above listed polishes; you'll lose out on a lot of your PC's ability to correct swirls.

Keep that 106ff to use after one of the medium cut polishes. You'll have an awesome finish.

Super Intensive Polish Review... - Detail University - Auto Detailing Forum

Scroll down to Post #9. It's a nice review on using SIP by rotary and PC.
