Amazon Rocks- Makita 9227 arrived!

I've never ordered anything from Amazon.com before, but I must say I am truly impressed! I placed my order on a Makita 9227CX package ($189 shipped) on Monday and opted for the free shipping. It indicated a delivery time of 5-10 business days; to my surprise I pulled up to the driveway and had a nice big box sitting next to my door! Definitely made my day:

I can't wait to start practicing on my beater car. I had one quick question....does anyone actually use the pads that come with the buffer?? I'm waiting on my edge 2k wool pads to come in, but man am I wanting to try the sucker out lol.

sweet! i'm about to order one soon. I've never heard of anyone using the included pads either.

So you got the 8" edge wool pads from autogeek? I was thinkin about ordering them too. From what I hear you need some foam pads for the final polishing.

I opted for the 6" pads from autogeek for now. From the research I've done it seems it's easier to learn on the 6" pads vs. the 8. I have some edge foam pads for it, but no adapter for the rotary yet.

I opened up that same sweet package yesterday!

I've read that the pads aren't that bad, but there are much better ones out there I'm sure..

I ordered my supplies about a week before I ordered the rotary so I knew I'd have everything here waiting for me when it got here.. It's fun so far.. Much much different than the PC though.

Have the exact same thing - nice ain't it! For wool, go 8" Edge pads, foam - it's your choice, I have 6.5 LC pads and 8" Edge pads - I like the centering that the Edge has, but sometimes the smaller pad is a little easier depending on the car I'm detailing.

Thanks for alerting me to this, I just ordered one!! I have been using an old rotary that was badly in need of replacement, the free shipping pushed me over the edge.

Re: Amazon Rocks- Makita 9227 arrived!

Congrats on the purchase! I, too, love ordering from Amazon and I also got my Makita 9227 from them. They've got some amazing deals sometimes, especially considering most people don't have to pay tax and shipping is free on many items (over $25). They always say 5-10 days for free shipping, but I get my stuff within 1-3 days from them.

Re: Amazon Rocks- Makita 9227 arrived!

Just FYI.. I got my Makita 9227CX3 from Discount woodworking, power tools, and trade tools at Tools Plus, for $169 + $6.50 shipping. So the total to my door was $175.50.
