Polishing First Time with 3M products...how many passes?

I am using a compound and a polish from 3M for my swirly 05 Dodge Ram with a Makita PC. How many passes should I expect to do to take our the swirls using the compound and then the polish? I know this is hard to judge without pics of how bad the marring is but I would rate it as light to medium.

A rough number is fine, for example 1-4, 8-12, etc.

Also, which specific 3M products are you using? (Part number or the full name on the bottle)

Depends if you do slow or fast passes. I prefer slow passes with compounds.
