Multi backing plates and pads for PC....

is the PC the only machine that has the flexibilty to accomondate such a large variety of backing plate and pad sizes? Seems like others Makita, Festool, etc. have a 6" and that's it. If you own a machine that can only use large pads (i.e 6, 6.5", etc) how do you get around edges, arcs and other tight places? Do you need to buy a PC too just for those areas?

I'm pretty sure they make pads as small as 4" for the rotary, but not positive

Rotary Flexible Backing Plate- Manufactured by Lake Country just for rotary polishers. Hook and loop backing plates for your makita 9227, Dewalt 849.

They have 7", 6", 4 3/4", 3 3/4", 2 3/4".

Just got to make sure your rotary has a 5/8th diameter shaft.

the three backing plates i use for the PC are the 3.5", 5", and 6". i've been using the 5" backing plate for a while but am going to switch to the 6", as the pads (LC 6.5" flat pads) start to get the caved in cookie cutter effect on the outside edge of the velcro, and with the 6" it will cover it completely (just got to be careful not to knock into anything), and with the 3.5" backing plate & 4" pads, i mainly use to apply lsp's...

huh.....I thought the smaller the pad, the faster the rotation so many use the smaller pads for correction and not for lsp. Did I interpret that wrong from previous posts or is it just a personal preferrence.

I use my 4" pads for correction they are great on mirrors A pillars wings and bumpers.

The 4" pads with a PC are great for both correction and applying LSP's. Like you indicated you get more rotation with the 4" pads which helps when correcting but the size of pad also helps when laying down a LSP because you can get to places you can't with the 6" pads. Also less vibration and less absorption.
