Re: Menzerna vs Optimum lines for UDM

I guess there is no consensus, and since the Menzerna line's availability is spotty, I'll go ahead and invest in OC, OP, and the UDM and appropriate pads. Hopefully the Werkstatt products I have (Prime, AJT) will work well with the Optimum line.

Cheers,
HeavyB

Re: Menzerna vs Optimum lines for UDM

Whats the big deal with long working time? I mean, their is better things to do then wait for the polish to break down properly. Thats why I almost crank up the rotary up to 2500rpm when I am finishing my jobs, just to break down the polish as fast as possible.

Re: Menzerna vs Optimum lines for UDM

I have the old, and I have tried the new, Optimum line of polishes. They are great for beginners, as it takes forever to break-down the polish. But, for someone who gets paid, I desire a faster polish break-down. Hopefully when I get my Menzerna my wish will come true. Also please keep in mind that some, but not all Edge 2000 pad users have had pad skipping issues with SIP. I heard a great majority of the Menzerna line dusts like crazy, while with the Optimum line, I have NEVER had dusting issues, which is a big plus. Good luck!

Spoiledman, from page 1, thanks for the tip. Turns out I was using WAY too much product.

Do either Optimum or Menzerna have something that's not quite a compound but more aggressive than IP?

phamkl, glad you were able to get it to work. You cold step up the pad that you use with IP to get a bit more aggressive but there is nothing between IP/SIP and PG to my knowledge.

Re: Menzerna vs Optimum lines for UDM

I don't think that optimum is up to the task on harder clear coats. My experience with an Audi was miserable using optimum compound and polish. On the other hand, I had excellent results with Menzerna SIP and 106FF using the same techniques. I guess autogeek is out of SIP, but I think you can still get it at detailers domain.
